Jill’s great passion is for travel and travel writing.
She writes to travel, travels to write. Like any true traveller there is nowhere
on the planet that doesn’t interest her but there are some places that hold a special fascination - namely the Middle East, Iran, Central Asia and the Indian sub-continent.
Her writing is most easily accessible through the online edition of New Zealand’s
largest newspaper, the New Zealand Herald. When Jill travels, whether overseas or
in New Zealand she has her own official blog called
Escapism
- an exclusive to the
Herald’s on-line edition. She also writes regularly for Canterbury’s very own magazine
Latitude Canterbury.
Over the years she
has received many repeat invitations to write for organisations including the British
Tourism Authority and almost all the state tourism authorities of Australia. Her
first travel book, A Blonde in the Bazaar,
recounts her extensive travels in Pakistan,
a country now never far from the news. Out of stock in bookshops now it is available
direct through this website. She also runs travel writing courses, both for amateur
writers and for those in the travel industry who want to produce more lively, interesting
and readable travel articles and advertising copy.
